Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA) Detroit and Plumbers Local 98 Endorse Mike Duggan for Re-Election as Detroit’s Mayor
Labor support for Mayor Mike Duggan’s re-election grows today with joint endorsements from the Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA) Detroit and Plumbers Local 98.
"The Wayne County Democratic Black Caucus unanimously endorsed Mike Duggan for reelection because he's working every day to build one city for all of us," said Bea Ward, chairperson of the Wayne County Democratic Black Caucus.
”We are pleased to give our endorsement to Mayor Mike Duggan,” said Rick Blocker, president of the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO.
"Mayor Duggan has been relentless in bringing jobs and opportunities to Detroiters ever since he's taken office,” said Toney Stewart, Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters Director. “The Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights was pleased to learn that creating jobs was the Mayor's priority on day one and he's been true to his word. In 2016 more than 11,000 more Detroiters were working than the year before and those numbers are going up. Growing construction in the city means more jobs for our members. We look forward to working with the mayor to bring the jobs people need and want; that's how a city grows."
Today, Bishop John H. Sheard, senior pastor of the Greater Mitchell Temple Church of God In Christ (COGIC), endorsed Mayor Mike Duggan in his reelection bid.
